Have you ever found yourself lost in reverie? Imagining a new life where the Caribbean Sea gently laps your ankles on a white-sand beach? Let’s walk you through how to get an Antigua and Barbuda passport, step by step.

Before we do, how much you know about this twin-island state? Did you know, for example, that Antigua has a beach for every day of the year? In the case of a leap year, you can always pop over towards the smaller neighbouring island of Barbuda to complete your tally.

The Antigua and Barbuda passport is much coveted among investors as it allows you to do just that, plus enhance your global mobility. But you must first obtain Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment.

Step 1: Select Your Investment Option in Antigua and Barbuda

Our How to Get an Antigua and Barbuda Passport guide starts by informing you that you need to make a financial contribution to the country. There are four routes to Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship upon approval. They are the following:

  • Donate $100,000 to the National Development Fund (NDF) per regulation 7 of the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Act (2013)
  • Buy a property or a share of a project worth at least $200,000 in an approved real estate development that must be held for at least five years following regulation 6 of the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Act (2013)
  • Invest a minimum $1,500,000 into an approved business as a sole investor or make a joint investment of at least $400,000 in an eligible business worth $5,000,000 under regulation 9 of the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Act (2013)
  • Contribute $150,000 to The University of West Indies (UWI) Fund (for familes of 6 or over only) per regulation 6A of the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment (Amendment) Regulations (2018)

Step 2: Establish That You Are in Good Health

You must take a health assessment in the presence of a registered medical practitioner, along with any dependants you include on your application. At the time of the assessment, you need to provide proof of identity. In addition, you must supply the original results of HIV tests that are no more than three months old.

Step 3: Confirm Your Wealth

You must demonstrate your source of funds. That can be in the form of an employment letter. Another way is to supply a contract.

Step 4: Attend a Mandatory Interview

Antigua and Barbuda is committed to due diligence. That means you and any dependants of yours, aged 16 or above, need to attend a virtual interview. As with your medical assessment, you must show identity cards or passports.

Step 5: Wait to Receive Your Citizenship

Should your application be successful, you will receive Certificates of Naturalization between five and seven months after your interview. Once you receive your Citizenship, this is how you get an Antigua and Barbuda passport. Your passport will be valid for five years and you can renew it only by spending a total of five days in Antigua and Barbuda within that five-year period.
